Tribute to Academician Solomon Marcus

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the Romanian Academy, together with the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, paid tribute to Solomon Marcus, a remarkable personality of Romanian culture, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. The event took place in the Great Hall of the Romanian Academy and was opened by a welcoming speech from Acad. Ioan-Aurel Pop, President of the Romanian Academy.

Solomon Marcus was a visionary in both science and culture, an internationally renowned mathematician, and a member of the Romanian Academy, celebrated for his outstanding contributions to mathematical analysis, mathematical linguistics, semiotics, and the humanities. He authored over 50 books and approximately 400 scientific articles, offering an interdisciplinary perspective that inspired generations of researchers.

Through his work, Solomon Marcus built bridges between mathematics and the humanities, promoting dialogue between science and culture. His intellectual legacy remains a model of intellectual courage and openness to knowledge.
