International Union for Interdisciplinarity and Transdisciplinarity in Complex SystemsI.U.I.T.C.S. produces one bulletin every December month belonging to a calendar year. the Journal is written in English. It contains relevant topics and communications regarding current international issues, which take place in the context of interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity of complex systems, as well as data related to the Union’s activity.

Please have a glance at Union’s very first Journal of International Union for Interdisciplinarity and Transdisciplinarity in Complex Systems released in the first trimester of 2024. By accessing its title you have the possibility to visualize it entirely. Enjoy its reading!

Our Union keeps you continuously informed by including cutting-edge findings, comprehensive reviews, and significant breakthroughs that can enhance your understanding and contribute to your professional growth. We believe that staying informed about these all developments in science is crucial for maintaining the high standards of excellence and expertise that our Union upholds.

We encourage you to engage with these resources and share your insights and feedback. Your active participation is invaluable to us, and we look forward to your continued involvement in our scientific community. Therefore, we are honored to announce the publication of contributions by several distinguished collaborators and members of the scientific board.

The first paper belongs to Dr. Viorella Manolache, affiliated at “Ion I.C. Brătianu” Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Romanian Academy, Department of Political Philosophy and Political Science. She is also Member of I.U.I.T.C.S. Scientific Council, with expertise in philosophy of politics, post-humanism, and political science. You may access her paper  The Diagram is the new symbol – Deleuze on Foucault” by clicking on the title hyperlink.

This work argues that “The Diagram is the new symbol” by exploring its methodology and philosophy, highlighting its dynamics and potential as a process. It demonstrates how diagrams can transform into symbols, representing types and general signs. Additionally, it examines Deleuze’s interpretation of Foucault, showing how Foucault’s work maps power through diagrams.

Another outstanding paper is presented by the President of I.U.I.T.C.S., Dr Sorin Baiculescu, doctor of philosophy of science and epistemology, specialized in biomathematics. He is integrated in various Interdisciplinary Research Groups of Romanian Academy, “Division for the Logics, Methodology and Philosophy of Science” (DLMFS )/ “The Romanian Committee for the History and Philosophy of Science end Technics” (CRIFST), and  “The Romanian Group for Research and Interdisciplinarity” (GCI). He is Member of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences – Mathematics Anthropology, Research Institute for Neural Sciences – Belgium, and French Society of Philosophy. In I.U.I.T.C.S. Scientific Council his frame of expertise refers to the complex systems; philosophy of science and epistemology, bio-mathematics and mathematical modelling.

You can read his paper by clicking on the hyperlink title: Urban Symbolism in Bucharest-Romania. The paper is analyzing the forms of urban symbolism existing within some significant civil “spaces” in the capital of Romania – Bucharest. It is presenting the generative grammars and the mathematical “derivatives” developing within the main buildings (round, vertical, well-balanced forms, architectural correlations, artifacts, and so on. The study focuses on the Brancovan style found in certain religious monuments in Bucharest and in its context it is analysed these unique aesthetic and structural elements, exploring both redundancy and non-redundancy in design. The relationship between micro-structural and macro-structural spaces is examined, as well as natural and artificial spaces in the city. This interdisciplinary research applies new methods, using generative and formal grammars, to create simple, graphical forms for architectural urbanism and key buildings in Bucharest.

We have also the honour to introduce Dr Henrieta Serban, PhD in Philosophy, senior researcher at the Institute of Political Sciences and International Relations “Ion I. C. Brătianu,” as well as at the Institute of Philosophy and Psychology “Constantin Rădulescu-Motru” of the Romanian Academy. She is corresponding member of the Romanian Academy of Scientists, member of the Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science at the Romanian Academy (Romanian Committee for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technics/Technology) and works with the Group for Interdisciplinary Research associated with this Division at the Romanian Academy. Since 2020 she is a founding member of the International Society for the Study of Solitude and member of the International Association for Philosophy of Humor. As Member of I.U.I.T.C.S. Scientific Council, she brings expertise in ontemporary philosophy, applied philosophy, social epistemology, semiotics, epistemology. She has coordinated international research projects, more recently, under the auspices of the Romanian Academy and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
She would like to share the insights of the paper” A vision of complexity in Lupasco – Nicolescu dialogue and in the science -meaning dialogue. Please click on the paper’s title hyperlink to read it.

The study begins with Stephane Lupasco’s question: ‘How can philosophy, seeking stability, accept science, which is constantly changing?’ This question and the Lupasco-Nicolescu dialogue inform Nicolescu’s ideas on levels of reality, transdisciplinarity, and complexity. By explaining these concepts, the study sets the stage for discussing the dialogue between science and meaning. Basarab Nicolescu’s multi-layered model of reality is crucial for understanding the complexity of knowledge. He defines transdisciplinarity as what exists between, within, and beyond all disciplines. Its purpose is to understand the modern world and unify knowledge, emphasizing an interconnected epistemology.

Another distinguished author who’s paper we have the pleasure to present you is Dr. Cristian Andreescu, Member of DLMFS of the Romanian Academy. He is Member of I.U.I.T.C.S. Scientific Council bringing expertise in the philosophy of science, psychology, electrochemistry. In his paper he presents Prof.Dr. Basarab Nicolescu, physicist, mathematician, and philosopher, from an interesting perspective that combines and produces a language specific to all three disciplines he masters. It is presented how he uses a transdisciplinary language that integrates all three fields. Building on Stéphane Lupasco’s concept of the ‘included middle,’ Nicolescu developed a complex model of an unlimited set of levels of reality. He distinguishes between Real, Reality, Object, Subject, and their zones of resistance and non-resistance, creating a unified image of physical reality that is both scientific and philosophical. Central to his philosophy is the ‘hidden middle,’ characterizing his transdisciplinary and holistic approach aimed at unifying science.

We thus invite you to read Dr. Andreescu’s paper by clicking on the following hyperlink: “BASARAB NICOLESCU and Transdisciplinarity”.
